Office of the Vice Chancellor
The Vice Chancellor serves as the chief academic, financial and administrative officer of the university. The jobholder advances the university’s mission, vision and motto and ensures compliance with the legal requirements and expectations of the Government of Uganda and its organs. The Vice Chancellor also develops and stewards resources to ensure that facilities and programmes are modern, excellent, and well managed. He or she resources the university with quality personnel and develops them for greater usefulness and promotes excellence in academics, research, and community engagement.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs (DVC AA) serves as secretary to Senate and oversees the administration and organization of all academic matters including admission, undergraduate studies, post-graduate studies, examinations, research and publications and ensures academic quality in the university.
The Board of Trustees is responsible for conducting oversight function over both university activities and governance structures within in.
Functions of the Board of Trustees
- Offer oversight of all university activities and governance structures;
- Advise council and management on affairs of the university from time to time;
- Appoint Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the University Council;
- Appoint Chancellor of the University;
- Promote the image of the university;
- Perform any other duty/role it may deem fit for the university.
The Faculty Senate is empowered by its Constitution to be the primary body through which the faculty participate in the shared governance of the University. The Senate is composed of approximately 80 members who are elected to represent the academic units of the University. The Senate’s meetings are held monthly throughout the academic year. Saiu’s administrative offices are essential to supporting the operations and mission of the university. They deal with a diverse range of issues including human resources, financial activities, research administration and student affairs.

Coordinate the activities of the various University offices providing support to faculty, staff and students on sponsored projects, to assure that service provided by those offices is of the highest caliber and professionalism, and to serve as an effective representative for the research enterprise at saiu and nationally.
